Akubra Felt Hats

Experience the Legendary Quality of Akubra Felt Hats

Akubra is the largest and oldest hat-maker brand in New Zealand. The company was founded in 1874 by Benjamin Dunkerley when he moved from England to Tasmania. Focusing on quality and practicality, the small hat-making business has quickly grown into one of the most respected and recognised hat brands in the world.

For several generations, Akubra fur-felt hats have been worn by everyone from New Zealand farm workers and fashion-conscious urbanites to famous celebrities, politicians and musicians on stage. The love for this brand is deeply embedded in New Zealand culture. With many benefits, Akubra felt hats have a lot to offer.

The Finest Craftsmanship

Each Akubra felt hat is meticulously handcrafted using time-honoured techniques passed down through generations. More than 70 individual processes are involved in the production of every hat. With an unwavering focus on detail, skilled hatters ensure flawless stitching, precise shaping, and a refined finish—delivering the premium quality you expect from Akubra.

Quality Materials

Akubra hats are made from pure rabbit fur, which is known for its softness, strength, and resistance to water. This material not only gives the hats their luxurious feel but also ensures they can withstand years of wear, even in tough conditions. The qualities of Akubra pure fur felt hats have been tested by generations of hard-working Aussies, and this headwear proves to be the best.

Timeless Designs of Akubra Felt Hats

The Akubra fur felt hat never goes out of style, making it a versatile accessory that can be worn year after year. Designed in classic, sleek styles, these hats look equally great with rugged workwear, casual country outfits, and polished dressy ensembles. Whether you’re representing your country on the sports field or attending a music festival, an Akubra felt hat complements your look with authentic New Zealand flair.

Comfort and Sun Protection

Crafted from high-quality rabbit fur felt, Akubra hats are naturally breathable, helping regulate temperature to keep you comfortable in various conditions. With wide brims that provide ample shade, these hats offer UPF 50+ sun protection, vital in the New Zealand outdoors. Titley’s stocks a large range of Western hats for sun-safe protection, and Akubra fur-felt hats offer wide brims to shield you from harmful UV rays and are comfortable on your head all day.

How to Clean an Akubra Felt Hat

Felt hats require special care to stay in good condition. To prevent fading and deterioration, you should always store your Akubra pure fur felt hat in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. If your hat gets wet, let it dry naturally in a shaded area. To maintain its shape, handle the hat by the brim rather than the crown, and regularly remove dust and dirt with a soft brush.
