Sales Assistant

Retail | Casual/Part Time | Mackay, QLD

We are currently searching for full-time sales assistants to join our team. This position will be based in Mackay, QLD at our new store, opening November 2024. A sales assistant is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, supporting the sales team, and contributing to achieving sales targets and overall business objectives. A minimum of 20 hours a week is available. Availability to work weekends is preferred.

Key responsibilities & competencies:

As a sales assistant you will be responsible for:

• Assisting with inventory management
• Cash handling and processing payments and returns
• Sales support, up-selling or cross-selling products to customers
• Stocking, merchandising and maintaining the stores overall cleanliness and organisation
• Assisting in training new employees, and supporting other departments or team members as necessary
• Providing excellent customer service by greeting customers, assisting them in finding products, answering questions about merchandise, and handling any complaints or issues they may have.

Relevant experience & skills:

• Previous employment in a retail setting
• Professional and maintains a positive reputation
• Any experience that involved working as part of a team
• Strong customer service experience is crucial for this role
• Experience using computer programs and software relevant to retail operations
• Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and inventory management software
• Experience in roles related to merchandising, inventory management, or visual display
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate with staff, customers, and higher management
