Warehouse Assistant

Retail | Full Time | Charters Towers, QLD

We are currently searching for a full-time warehouse assistant to join our team. As a warehouse assistant you will be responsible for various tasks aimed at ensuring the smooth flow of goods in and out of the warehouse. This role is integral to maintaining organised inventory management, fulfilling orders accurately and promptly, and contributing to a safe and productive working environment. This position is based in Charters Towers, Queensland.

Hours:

  • Monday - Friday: 8:35am - 5:10pm
  • Saturday: 8:40am - 2:10pm
  • Sunday: 9:35am - 1:10pm

This role includes a rotating roster in which you work every third weekend. In return, you’ll have the following Friday–Sunday off as a long weekend.

Key Responsibilities & Competencies:

As a warehouse assistant you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with inventory management, conducting regular stock counts and reconciling discrepancies.
  • Working collaboratively with other warehouse staff, supervisors and departments to achieve organisational goals.
  • Timely and accurately fulfilling customer orders by picking items from inventory, packing them securely and preparing them for delivery.
  • Handling incoming shipments, including verifying contents and recording received quantities; also preparing outgoing shipments for delivery.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and efficiency enhancements within warehouse operations and contributing to their implementation.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe warehouse environment; including performing routine checks on equipment and adhering to all safety regulations, procedures and guidelines.
  • Provide assistance in front of store sales; including but not limited to greeting customers, answering enquiries, and processing transactions. Flexibility to transition between warehouse and sales duties based on business needs.

Relevant Experience & Skills:

  • A willingness to learn & dedication to accuracy.
  • Excellent time management, organisational and technical skills.
  • Experience with inventory control processes and handling shipments.
  • Experience in customer service or working in a warehouse environment.
  • Experience operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Experience fulfilling customer orders accurately and efficiently, including picking items from inventory, packing orders, and preparing shipments.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate with staff, customers, and higher management.
  • Experience working collaboratively with a team in a fast-paced warehouse environment, including effective communication and coordination with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Experience performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and working in various temperature conditions typical of warehouse environments.
